Sonny has been experiencing way too much separation anxiety when we leave the house. In the past, Sonny has chewed through the wooden fence to get out. Last night, he torn a hole in the chain link part of the fence.
This morning, my free time has been spent researching and reading up on separation anxiety in dogs. It sounds like I have some work to do. We will have to start training him and working with him a lot more. I am hoping that the training will work with Sonny. If not, next stop is the vet for drugs.

Good luck researching and finding something that works. It can be tricky to overcome but definitely possible.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really need it right now.

My husband and I foster dogs for a local rescue so I have some experience dealing with various personalities and dog quirks.
The key is lots of encouragement, taking it slow, and don't get frustrated if there are some setbacks along the way.

I really admire the work that you do.
Sonny is doing better. It is a slow process. Basically, we are trying to exercise him a lot. He is a nervous dog, and he has always been a nervous dog. With exercise, Sonny seems to do better.
